BESC AME Training and Assessment Note.

NSI 30 Issue 4 November 2019. BESC AME is no longer a requirement for work or access to National Grid substations

Pragmatic Consulting Ltd is an accredited training center, (approved by the EUSR (Energy and Utility Skills). We offer BESC Training (Basic Electrical Safety Competence) and BESC AME Assessment courses for anyone who carries out work either directly or indirectly, on or near operational plant and equipment associated with the transmission and / or distribution of electricity.

Pragmatic Consulting Ltd undertakes the BESC AME Training and Assessments in a friendly and interactive manner.  We have a huge wealth of power systems and electrical knowledge and work at a pace that suits the individual learner’s needs.  We will try and get the PERSON training and CBT course and the BESC AME assessment booked on the same day where possible to reduce our client’s needs to have staff off line for two days.  We are happy to book the PERSON courses for you.

We are able to accommodate single individuals as well as larger groups across the whole of the UK.  Our reputation for delivering interactive, fun, specific and relevant training is growing and we would love the opportunity to work with you.

BESC AME Scheme Overview
The scheme standards cover the basic requirements for safely entering, moving around and exiting work areas in electrical environments. They do not cover skills required for carrying out operational work tasks on the electrical network, e.g. cable jointing. Where individuals are
required to enter more than one category of work area they should achieve all the relevant standards. The schemes are accepted as a proof of competence and do not constitute company authorisation which will be issued independently by each company.

Assessment Requirements

  • Photographic ID (Company ID card or EUSR Card is acceptable)
  • PPE  (Approved list will be supplied upon booking)

How long does registration last?
Registration lasts for three years, after which the candidate must undertake and pass a further assessment to remain registered with EUSR. Following successful workplace assessment against a particular standard, candidates will be registered on the EU Skills Registration Database (www.eusr.co.uk).  Candidates will be issued with a Cover Note from the assessor, and a EUSR Registration Card will be posted within 28 days.
