NSI 24 Is no longer offered by National Grid. All sections of the Contractors appointment for NSI 24 are now N/A and states:

"Contractors by law have a duty to provide a safe system of work for their employees."

This course is an updated version containing all the best ideas of the course that was delivered by national Grid.

I have retained most of items that have now been removed from NSI 24 for information.

The pass mark is set at 80%

Course Title:

Modification or Repair of Earth Conductors on Main Earth Systems.

Pre Course Qualifications:

The course covers working on National Grids Main Earth Systems which may be Intact or inadequate.

Candidates should ideally be Competent Persons and hold BESC for Substations (safety rules and NSI 6 & 8) and the relevant practical knowledge, training and experience to work on earth systems.

Objectives:

To enable safe and effective work processes in compliance with National Grids safety instruction NSI 24.

To understand the role and responsibilities of a Competent Person within National Grids environment.

Note: Words in bold are terms defined in National Grids fourth Edition Safety Rules. Words in italics are definitions found in NSI 24.

At the end of the training:

On completion of the training the candidates will have received sufficient information instruction and guidance to enable competence.

The candidate will partake in an assessment to confirm his/her knowledge and understanding.
