Trainer

My Background

I have worked for National Grid at Eakring as a Person and Competent Person trainer for eight years as a contractor till 2010.
I am also a BESC assessor working for Pragmatic consulting.

In May 2010 the Substation and Overhead Line Person and Competent Person training and assessment moved to a computer based system.

The new CBT (computer based training) package offers a very good way for contractors to train their staff.

I have developed and offer a pre training course for Competent Person substation and overhead lines which involves candidate's participation to embed knowledge and help prepare them for the CBT course.

This is a two way interactive session where I ask lots of questions to explain National Grids Safety Rules. However this is a unique oppertunity for you to ask any questions.

Reciently I have added an Impressed Voltage course where I can combine the dangers from NSI 4 and NSI 5 having worked on overhead lines, high voltage underground cables and substations for about 25 years.

Prior to this I worked for National Grid/CEGB for 35 years. For 25 years I was Senior Authorized Person working in the substations on main plant and protection. For the last 10 years I looked after the overhead line team based at Bushbury. In the Midlands the line section also looked after the offsite underground cables. This has given me a good working knowledge of NSI 4,5,6,8 and 12

As a Senior Aurthorized Person I was also Aurthorised Person. I would be happy to develop an AP course if there is a demand.
